FireStoppa™ IZ Specifications
Firestoppa IZ is a stainless steel reinforced E Glass fibre base fabric coated both sides with a heat radiation reducing, ‘insulating zone’ graphite silicon coating. The specially formulated coating on the IZ fabric makes the final product heavy duty.
FireStoppa IZ is the industry standard Stainless Steel Reinforced Fire and Smoke Fabric that can provide a thermal insulating barrier.
The FireStoppa IZ fabric is suitable for full fire protection and stopping as well as smoke, with extended performance for higher temperatures, strength, abrasion and flex performance.
When exposed to temperatures above 160ºC the coating system will form an expanding carbonaceous char, which combined with an endothermic reaction will also retard pyrolysis of organic matter, suppress smoke release, dilute combustion gases with liberated water vapours and consequently provides a thermal insulating barrier.
The IZ fabric satisfies and is specifically tested and compliant to BSI PAS 121 2007.
FireStoppa IZ is suitable for internal use.
This fabric can be used externally as it is coated with a high quality grade silicone elastomer. Silicones are known in the industry for their outstanding resistance to weathering and environmental influences, such as exposure to high and low temperatures, UV Light, Humidity, Radiation and Ozone. There is little change to the properties of silicone when exposed to the elements.
FireStoppa IZ has not been specifically tested by us for external use, however, we do use high end, long established automotive and aviation silicones grades, which have been tested by suppliers and their customers independently. All generic properties of silicone elastomer apply.
FireStoppa IZ has achieved the following radiation levels monitored as part of a test 1 metre away from the fabric:
20mins – 4.80 kW/m2
30mins – 5.84 kW/m2
60mins – 9.29 kW/m2
90mins – 13.00 kW/m2
107mins – 15.7 kW/m2
FireStoppa IZ is a fire retardant fabric and could be used to prevent the spread of fire or flames and provide an insulating zone.
FireStoppa IZ fabric has the same characteristics and performance within other industries and applications as a fabric called Alpha Maritex 4415-2-BI. It is also known as TG-640SW-BI-2.
